Halsey, the renowned musician, will make her horror-film industry debut with the upcoming film, MaXXXine. The film will feature a star-studded cast, including Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Lily Collins, Moses Sumney, Bobby Cannavale, Giancarlo Esposito, Kevin Bacon, and Mia Goth, who will reprise her role as Maxine Minx from the X franchise.

While the characters of the other actors have not been revealed yet, the movie will take place after the events of X and follow Goth’s character as she pursues fame in 1980s Los Angeles. The plot will revolve around the perils of underground filmmaking, with Esposito playing an agent in the adult-film industry, Debicki portraying a film director, Monaghan and Cannavale serving as LAPD detectives, and Bacon playing a private detective.

MaXXXine will be written and directed by Ti West, who was also behind the original X and its sequel, Pearl. West and Goth will produce the film along with Jacob Jaffke, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss.

Despite being Halsey’s first foray into the horror-film industry, she previously wrote and starred in an hourlong, R-rated concept film, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, which was released in 2021. The film was accompanied by the singer’s album of the same name, and it featured elements of body horror, sexuality, and birth. It was released in IMAX theaters before finding a streaming home on HBO Max.

Halsey also stars in the Western film, Americana, directed by Tony Tost, which premiered at SXSW in March. MaXXXine is set to take the horror genre by storm, with Halsey, Goth, and the star-studded cast creating a new cinematic experience for viewers.
